Not content to merely read literature, I’ve been known to take as many classes studying it as I can find. This lead me to earn an undergraduate degree in Writing for Children (self-designed at the University of Pittsburgh, where I took fiction writing courses and children’s literature courses). A few years later I found Hollins University’s graduate program in Children’s Literature and earned both an MA and MFA in Children’s Literature. Now I’m stopping because, as one of my friends says, “Degrees are like cats. You can’t have too many or people think you’re weird.
